This is an amazing little novella, perfect for the Halloween season. Jo is a photojournalist who was out taking pictures of the local haunted house for the Halloween edition of the paper when she spies a lovely woman standing on the bridge over the river, poised like she is going to jump. Beautiful women being Jo’s weakness, she approaches the woman, who claims to know Jo and says she was waiting for her. This is Camilla. She asks Jo to take her home, so Jo does – once there, Camilla jumps into the lake, saying she wants to swim. When she doesn’t resurface, Jo jumps in after her, trying to save her, only to almost drown. Camilla pulls her out of the water and says that it was her turn to save Jo. Jo falls asleep and when she wakes up, almost 24 hours later, Camilla is gone. Or is she? Because strange things start to happen to Jo – her date that night almost chokes to death and then flees the house, claiming Jo’s dead girlfriend tried to choke her. Jo’s friend, Lucy, says that Camilla is a ghost that has followed her from a past life. They must return to the haunted house – the scene of a tragedy in their lives 10 years prior – only to find out that Camilla wants Jo to die.

This is an incredibly creepy story and one I absolutely loved! While the story is full and complete, I still wanted it to be longer, and I’m desperately hoping that there are additional stories to be told about Jo – full-length novels, preferably. If you’re not bothered by the f/f scenes, you must check this out – it’s excellent!
