When John Daniels left for the library he expected it to be just another quiet day hunting through journals and periodicals. Then a mysterious package arrived with an impossible device inside, and John’s peaceful world vanished with the death screams of a murdered woman echoing through the library. Forced to confront the pain of his past, John had little choice but to accept an unusual mission.

With Sarah safely at his side, John sets out to rescue reporter Ben Briggs from captivity before continuing with his mission and exploring this new stage in their relationship. But in the shadows, forces begin to gather with their eyes on John and the powerful GEE strapped to his wrist. Unsure just what the device is capable of, getting their hands on it could prove to be an insurmountable goal.

As the repercussions of losing the GEE appear in a fresh media storm, John’s despair grows. Sarah worries but is determined to help him find renewed purpose. Addie brings the GEE to a remote cabin, but strange things begin to happen. Elsewhere, a group gathers in the shadows, zeroing in on the GEE. They dispatch a team of operatives to retrieve the GEE and neutralize the threat John poses.
