Dan Regal has always been alone, having been left on the steps of an orphanage when he was only a baby. He has never had any visitors, nor made any true friendships with the other children at the orphanage. Aside from this utter, inescapable aloneness, Dan Regal is an entirely normal, unremarkable young boy. But all of that is about to change...

Dan’s second year at Snisnar begins, and it quickly it becomes apparent that the Scorpion has returned to Snisnar and is, once again, targeting Dan. There are also whispers of a long-lost heirloom of Steven Noricin's, a goblet that, according to legend, has the power to grant immortality to its drinker. Will Dan be able to find the Gottlehrling Goblet before the Scorpion gets his hands on it?

After another short summer reprieve, Dan's classmates return to Snisnar to face their darkest year at school yet. The Scorpion is still at large, and now the students of Snisnar are disappearing at an alarming rate. Worst of all, Dan is the prime suspect for the mysterious kidnappings.

The Scorpion has returned, and now no one, Comman or Norcinite alike, is safe.
