The One Rises

Only fanatics and lunatics believe demons can possess human beings. Or at least, that’s what Callie White thought until one possessed her best friend. Now, dealing with hungers and powers she doesn’t understand, she wants to make sure no one can bring another demon over. When that proves more difficult than expected, Callie is pushed to her limits and discovers just how common demon possession is.

Since the end of the Great Demon War, Silas has done his best to teach the newly bitten how to harness their abilities and do as little harm as possible. After nearly two centuries, however, Silas is starting to feel like he’s fraying around the edges. He can only hope that the magic that binds him and honor will be enough to keep him one step ahead of those who would see him fail.

To repay a debt, Mark has to offer his services to a powerful coven leader—an earth witch who has been very vague about what he must do to fulfill their agreement. As tensions heat up amongst the witches, Callie, Silas, Edie, and Mark find themselves in the middle of machinations to decide who will control the fate of humanity.

Summoned to the Bay area enclave, Edie knows her past mistakes are big enough to swallow her whole. That Maked Dibaba, a powerful air witch, wants Edie to return to San Francisco can only mean trouble. Edie can only hope that her assistance will be enough to make up for nearly killing Makeda DiBaba’s son and that the witch is no longer out for blood.

Silas' little band of misfits has come apart. A seat on the powerful Witches Council has opened up and Silas is stuck in the middle of the machinations unfurling over which faction of the witches will gain the upper hand. Angry witches, lies, and murder are just the start. Events in the Windy City will push Silas to the edge and reveal an unexpected enemy.
