Few would argue that our country’s approach to civil litigation could not be improved. For many reasons it is often a very inefficient process. Yet few laypersons involved in litigation, whether senior executives or private individuals, understand why litigation is so complex, inefficient and expensive. This paper's purpose is to help others better understand these issues and their causes.

A Call for Legal Entrepreneurship

From an entrepreneurial perspective, law has historically been an isolated valley, remote to outsiders but verdant in its possibilities. Entrepreneurs will hopefully be stimulated by the issues discussed in this paper. Perhaps some of those ideas may serve as seeds for new businesses focused on making the legal industry more efficient, responsive and broadly available.
