Shannon and Ally were excited. Easter was here and guess who was hopping in? The Easter Bunny was coming!
When Shannon and Ally got up on Easter morning there were Easter eggs all over the house. There were colourful eggs hiding everywhere! They ran down the stairs and started picking them all up and putting them in their Easter basket.
“Can we eat them all now?” asked Ally.
But Mommy said, “No, not until later. Eat your breakfast first!”
“Can’t I just have one egg?” asked Shannon. She loved chocolate.
“Not yet!” said Mommy.
So they hurried up and had breakfast and went outside to play. Ally painted a little bird house and hung it in the birch tree in front of the house.

She had on her Easter bunny ears and looked just like the Easter bunny!
Then Shannon said, “Let’s climb up the tree!”
So Shannon and Ally climbed into the birch tree and made a funny face.

Then they got Becca outside and started playing with her too. Becca is a Golden Retriever and loves to play. It was a beautiful Easter day!
Soon Daddy said, “Let’s go for a car ride and go to the park.”
So Shannon and Ally and Becca and Daddy and Grandma Kate all got into the car and went for a drive along the Ottawa River. It was a bright, sunny day and everybody was out walking.
Daddy parked in the parking lot and they all got out. Becca jumped out of the back and pulled on her leash because she was excited too!
Daddy said, “Sit, Becca.” And Becca did. She was a good dog.

Shannon and Ally went to play on the swings. Then they walked beside the river and looked at the sparkling water. It was a very nice day.
In the park was a windmill. Shannon and Ally ran up to the windmill and said to Grandma Kate, “Take our picture!”
So she did.

Then they walked along the rocks at the edge of the river. Ally skipped on the rocks and tried not to fall off. Shannon ran ahead with Daddy and Becca.
“Let’s go to the other park!” said Ally.
So they did.

Shannon and Ally climbed all over the park and had fun. They even saw some ducks in the pond and Ally tried to feed them. But Shannon could read the sign. It said, “Please Do Not Feed the Birds.”
Shannon was seven years old now and could read very well. She read all her own books at school and was a good reader.
Ally said she did not care what the sign said. She threw some grass to the ducks. They swam over to her, but did not like the grass.
“They want some bread crumbs,” said Grandma Kate.
“Do you have any?” asked Ally.
“No,” said Grandma Kate.
So Ally threw a piece of bark from the tree to the ducks. They did not like it and swam away.
Shannon and Ally walked across a tiny bridge and played in the sand. Shannon got sand in her shoe and Ally got something in her eye. But they had fun anyway.

“I like the park,” said Ally.
“Me too!” said Shannon.
Becca just wagged her tail.
Then they went home and Mommy had a big Easter dinner. All the family was coming for dinner, even their cousins Conor and Meagan. It was Meagan’s birthday and she was 13 years old today!
Daddy and Uncle John hid some Easter eggs in the park behind the house and the children ran out to find them. Some eggs even had their names on them.
“This is fun!” said Ally.
“I found my egg with my name on it!” said Shannon.

Everybody had a bag full of chocolate Easter eggs to eat after dinner! The egg with their name on it meant they got an even bigger surprise with bigger chocolate eggs!
“I don’t think I want any dinner,” said Shannon.
“Oh, yes, you are having dinner!” said Mommy. “No more Easter eggs for you!”
So Shannon and Ally ate dinner which was a big turkey and lots of good food. But they could only eat a little bit, because they were so full of chocolate!
“I love chocolate!” said Shannon.
“I love white chocolate!” said Ally.
“We love Easter!” said Shannon and Ally.
It was a perfect Easter day.
Shannon and Ally even went to church that morning and celebrated the real reason for Easter with Mommy and Daddy.
“It’s all about Jesus!” said Ally.
Shannon smiled because she knew all about Jesus. They learned it at school. She was going to be confirmed in the church and would wear a pretty dress.
“We all love Easter,” Shannon smiled.
