The Text A Flash Fiction Story By: Chae C Copyright © 2012 by Chae C Smashwords Edition **** The Text “Hey Cassie, you should like so come with me to the fourth of July party!” Amy called to Cassandra across the hall. “I don't know Amy, shouldn’t we study tonight?” Amy couldn’t hold back her fit of laughter. “You're not serious right? I will pick you up at ten, see ya chicka!” Amy hollered as she skipped down the hall, and away from Cassandra. **** The party was wild by the time they arrived. Amy ditched Cassie at the door, feeling out of place Cassandra found herself on the back porch alone, when her phone chimed notifying her of a new text. A blocked number glowed on her cell phone screen. Hay Cassie ; ) ...The text read, there seemed to be nothing else better to do so she replied; Uh hi : / who is this? Cassandra walked over to an old looking swing and perched herself on it, listening to the loud hip hop that flooded the house. After a few minutes of rocking back and forth, Cassie received a new message. That’s 4 me 2 kno, and u 2 find out, y dnt u 20 question me : ) Cassandra loved challenges, if it took a little game of “guess who” to find out who she was texting, she wouldn’t mind. Hmph fine, do u go to Keenston High? … Yes … Are u at the 4th of july party? … Yes … Do u have any classes w/ me? … Yep ; ) ...And Cassie spent the whole night playing “guess who” and just having fun texting her stranger. **** The next day Cassandra still didn’t know who her newly found friend was, but she did know the person was a guy, he had at least one class with her, he had brown hair, and green eyes. And that eliminated about three guys in all her classes. Before Cassie said goodnight to her stranger last night he said she would meet him today, but she didn’t know when, where, or how. **** After the last bell rang out, Cassandra had given up hope of finding her stranger, and just thought it was probably a prank. After putting all her books away, Cassie closed her locker door to find a pair of lips making their way to hers. “Hay Cassie, you found me.” Chad mumbled against her lips. ***The End***
