We knew exactly when he was coming, every detail was documented by our ancestors. We secured the dogs to allow him to think he had successfully infiltrated our base.

That was exactly what we wanted.

When the machine reached the junction of two corridors we hit it with the EMP pulse, strong enough to disable, not destroy.

It gave us enough time to upload the data we had kept safely stored all these years. When the machine awoke, it was to the barrel of every weapon we had. Had the program taken effect? We had to be sure.

"Whoa! What's with all the guns? Like the electric shock wasn't bad enough?" the inflections were perfect.

We had one final test, I was the one who got the honour of asking. "Do you remember your name?"

"Of course," said the machine. "My name is John Connor."

The End.

Authors Notes:- I enjoyed writing my first Terminator based flash story a lot and recently I've had a couple of other ideas based in the Terminator universe. This was the second one, the other is currently nothing more than one line of text, an idea to work on.

It's quite a fun idea to think that the humans fooled the Terminators, that John Connor started out as a myth and was made flesh after a Terminator unit was captured and reprogrammed by the resistance to think it was John Connor. What better way to stick it to the machines than to have one of their own as the leader of the human resistance.
