Who is Santa and where did he come from? Nobody knows for sure, but we have the stories from centuries past.
Point to the Christmas tree.
Where are the toys?

SAINT NICHOLAS
It was first reported long, long, ago that Saint Nicholas was very generous. He gave gold coins, food and toys to poor families. He was seen in Greece and Denmark.
Can you see the toys? Point them out.
There is a person watching Saint Nicholas; can you see her?

FATHER CHRISTMAS
In England, people talked about a man they called Father Christmas who gave toys and fresh green trees to poor families. He delivered these items every year at Christmas and that's how he got his name.
Does he have a cane? Point to it.
Where is the tree he is carrying?
What kind of toys is he giving away in this picture?

This man who is so generous at Christmastime has been seen all over the world. In the early years, he had many different names given to him in different countries. He has continued to change a lot over the years.
Can you see the doll? Point to it.
Where are the Christmas tree ornaments in the picture?

Not only has this man changed over the years, but people came to call him by the name Santa Claus. In this picture he looks more like the Santa we know, but he's still delivering the gifts himself. How did he get to the North Pole and where did his sleigh, reindeer, and elves come from?
