Smashwords Edition. Getting over it CHARACTERS JOE & ANN They are sitting on stools on opposite sides of the stage expressionless, facing the audience. They are dressed in their underwear. 1. Silence Joe scratches his nose and simultaneously Ann fluffs her hair. 2. Silence Simultaneously they walk across to the opposite side of the stage. As they reach the middle and pass each other Joe smiles, but Ann ignores him. Simultaneously, they sit opposite again. 3. Silence 4. Joe Was it the egg? 5. Silence 6. Joe Twenty-nine years ago we met over an egg 7. Silence 8. Joe After, in the morning?I boiled you an egg for breakfast 9. Silence 10. Joe When you came home with each of the five children? an egg for tea 11. Silence Joe and Ann stand simultaneously. Joe moves his shoulders and straightens his back and Ann does the same at the same time. Simultaneously they both sit again. 12. Silence 13. Joe Holidays in the Farmhouse in Cavan when the kids were small? Eggs for tea. Ann smiles but turns her head and fluffs her hair so Joe can't see the smile.
