From the end of WW I Lufthansa was without doubt the premier airline in Europe with its very successful Junkers J-13 transport. Whilst the airline did continue to fly throughout WW II the last flights made in early 1945 post-war with the Allies ban on all German aviation activities it was not until 1956 that regular Lufthansa services took to the air for it to become one of the world leaders again
