When at the beginning of the 20th Century large areas of the world were marked in the atlas in red the airplane was born and soon became a weapon of war. Post-WW I many countries of the former British Empire re-emerged as new nations from which emerged the Commonwealth of Nations with the own air forces some of which were very formidable air forces in their own right as they are today some died.
