Croydon Surrey in the UK not far from Central London bears the distinction of being Britain's first international hub for airliners. In the the late 1930s Erhard Milch and Enrst Udet of the German Air Ministry (RLM) landed at Croydon in their VIP Heinkel's and just before WW II started in 1939, Maj Alexander Seversky arrived at Croydon in his 2PA Convoy Fighter on a European demo and crashed it!
