Riverboats and Roses takes place in the late 1800s along the Mississippi River. Martha Fairbanks must face the death of her husband, Riverboat Captain Anderson Fairbanks, who has been killed in an accident on the river. Martha and her grown son lament the loss of husband and father. But, the grief-stricken widow has an added torment—a secret which she dare not share.
