Mae Weston began wrestling competitively in the late 1930s. One of her earliest bouts was against her sister, Wilma Gordon, in 1938. In the 1940s Weston wrestled stars like Mildred Burke and Elvira Snodgrass. She contended for the title as a masked wrestler and unmasked. Mae had a number of wrestling aliases including Carole Starr, Astroette and Purple Flash. She was popular at wrestling reunions.
