The Sidhe is a series of short novellas; each spanning only a few chapters but the stories themselves are interesting and the cliffhanger is definitely suspenseful enough to make you want to read the next book. It's really neat the way things cross this series. It's not confusing, just neat the way I'm reading and think, "Oh, that has to be so-so from Touched, and then Touched in Rise of the Unseelie too. Just nice to connect the three series. What do you do when you've lost your home, the people you know, pretty much everything? After you dust yourself off, you regroup and start over. At least that's the job facing the main character Jhaer in S. A. Archer's second series of books called "The Rise of the Unseelie." Aftershock is actually the second book in this series and interested readers can get the free prequel called "Foreshadow" by signing up on Archer's website for the newsletter (http://www.SidheTouch.com)

Jhaer is an Unseelie Elite who is none too pleased that his Unseelie monarchs are preparing to relinquish their power to the Seelie Court. Determined to disrupt the ceremony that is occurring within the Seelie Castle, he gets more than he bargained for when in a few moments, the entire underground civilization known as the Mounds collapses. While this scene is quite tragic, I was seriously impressed at the description Archer gave as Jhaer attempts to prevent the underground caverns from collapsing in an effort to allow as many Sidhe to escape.

Left with nothing but sheer determination not to Fade inspires Jhaer to gather the untrained earthborn Unseelie Sidhe, unite them and begin again. This also includes a reincarnation of himself from Jhaer, head of the Unseelie Elite to Donovan, Dark chieftain. This second story of the series is as full of action and magical entertainment as the other books, and I think the reader will enjoy watching the uphill battle Donovan has in his quest to rebuild the Sidhe in the Earth realm.
