Extended description

Imagine a world where children have never been outside. They've never seen a wild animal, not even at a zoo. The only animals they’ve ever seen are pictures on a screen. They’ve never heard the song of a bird, walked in the woods or played in a grassy field. This describes the world Captain Fike is from, but now the people on his planet want to reconnect with nature and remake the wild places his world has lost.

Now picture Earth and imagine a rare place where a ten-year-old boy, Tommy, and his best friend, a labrador retriever named Nept, are able to roam and explore freely. Their playground is the forest and they know many of the forest inhabitants, observing and enjoying their animal friends daily.

Fike is a space captain from a distant planet and Tommy is an ordinary boy growing up on Earth in a rather interesting place. What could they possibly have in common?

Learn about the planet Arcturus, Captain Fike's home, and find out why the Captain has been sent on a mission to .. (Read more)

Sort of a sleeper...the story took a few pages to draw me in..however once there I was hooked. A childrens' tale that adults to may find enjoyable..[I did]. Easily readable but with enough color & imagination to propel ones' interest. A young boy and his dog are about to encounter a unique visitor to their forest. Their lives will be forever changed. Recommended.
