Short description

“I was transfixed as I watched him; his skin was simply luminous in the sunlight, yet not a bead of sweat sheened his face. I could have remained entranced by him for hours, for in this state he was simply magnificent, almost ... supernatural."

Extended description

22-year-old Bree Spencer hates prejudice of all kinds – especially the blatant elitism she is subjected to as a resident staffer at her aunt’s exclusive estate, Blackall Manor. So when Bree nearly winds up as road-kill on account of the wealthy Sebastian Templeton, she struggles to reconcile her inexplicable attraction to him. On the surface Sebastian epitomises all that Bree usually despises, yet her draw to him is irrefutable.

Events become decidedly more unusual upon Sebastian’s arrival as a guest at Blackall Manor. Despite her reservations, Bree finds Sebastian intriguing; but his insistence to get to know her triggers a raft of niggling suspicions – heightened by a series of strange dreams and phenomena – until eventually, she learns the truth.

Sebastian is a guardian, a powerful descendant of a sacred ethereal line; and Bree’s uncanny gift has prompted him to find her. But while an anomaly inspired their connection, an ancient prophecy and ethereal lore forbid... (Read more)

When we talk about paranormal romance the beings that come to mind are usually Vampires, Werewolves, Angels, ghosts and even zombies. When I heard that this book was indeed Paranormal Romance but none of those where present my first thought was “How does K.C. King is going to pull this off?”

Guess what, she introduced Guardians, Ethereals and Elementals. What do they do? You may ask, well, they are in charge of keeping the balance among all living forces and are the hottest, cutest, most charming and interesting beings I’ve read about.

Through the book we follow Bree a young woman who lives with her Aunt due to tragic circumstances and ends up working at Blackall Manor, where she gets the chance to get to know Sebastian after he almost ran her over and suddenly her world is turned upside down.

K.C. King has an extraordinary eye for detail, so much that you can practically feel the wind and smell the ocean with the turn of a page.

This book had me glued to my sofa until 2 am, I swear the author is a walking thesaurus; the way this book is written is like reading Emily Dickinson but with supernatural beings parading through the pages, simply astonishing.

The plot is magnificent; it has the perfect rhythm and the romantic web she weaves traps you as soon as it starts.

The female character is strong and confident and doesn´t fear to take matters into her on hands, Sebastian is chivalrous and at the same time understands and supports Bree´s need to be independent and self-sufficient.

I loved this book, it left me wishing the book was longer or having the second installment so I could keep reading nonstop.

This is the kind of book that makes knees go weak and hearts beating irregularly.

But please guys don’t take my word for it, go and read it I swear you won’t be disappointed.

This is the easiest 5 start plus rate I’ve done, if I could give this book a million stars rating I would it´s definitively that good.

All I could think of after finishing this LATE last night was this scene from the Incredible's...

With the little boy on a tricycle... "THAT WAS TOTALLY WICKED!!!!!"

I try to write my reviews immediately after finishing a book so it is all fresh in my head but I am glad I took a few to think about this book. Honestly If I wrote it last night I would have been a blubbering idiot, not that I am not normally but this book was just superb. I didn't want to start on anything else least anymore intelligence and detail leaks out of my ears. I am actually quite surprised my emotions were not restored last in my dream state so my brain could grasp the extreme complexity of this book (read the book and you will understand that last remark). All I could think of this morning was writing this review so let me stop blabbering and give it a go.

Bree is a 22 year college student who lost her parents and goes to live with her estranged aunt. Her aunt "Mrs. March" is a pompous and pretentious yuppie who had no relationship with her sister because Bree's mother married, in her opinion, a "lowly blue collar worker" & policeman. None the less you can't hate her too much because she could have left Bree on her own but instead offered to pay for college in exchange for helping at the manor. Now while I was very intrigued right off the bat by the book I found it a little rough in the beginning because of the superficial & proper way she had to speak with her aunt. I am telling you this now because it not like that through the whole book, quite honestly it's not long until Sebastian enters the book and stirs up the pot. Sebastian *sigh* wonderfully perfect, gorgeous, and charismatic actually rubs Bree the wrong way at first meeting, she can't stand the "old money" attitude and his car immediately piques her nerves. As their romantic journey begins Bree begins to suspect he is different and her intuition is that that there is something amazingly different about Sebastian, and there is...

There is only one more detail I am going to give you about the book and it is from the description of the book.

"Sebastian is a guardian, a powerful descendant of a sacred ethereal line; and Bree's uncanny gift has prompted him to find her. But while an anomaly inspired their connection, an ancient prophecy and ethereal lore forbid it. And with Sebastian's purist brother determined to honour both at any cost, an epic battle with unthinkable stakes could be Bree's only chance at survival."
K.C. King

Ok the reason I am doing that is because I am just not as smart as Ms. King, I am not a writer and King is a master at the details. I can't even begin to explain anything else to you about this book. King has a VERY vivid imagination and is truly an artist with the writing in this story. I am not a "thinker" when it comes to my Paranormal Romance, I want to get lost in a fantasy world not analyze it. And while sometimes the details went over my head a little King always brought me back down to earth. I appreciate the painstaking details that went into this story and have no clue how King created this completely unique world without going insane. I can guess the same way Tolkien could take you into an amazing journey with the details to provide a very vivid picture. And furthermore I absolutely CANNOT believe this is her first novel. Surely she has written before this?

Bottom line this may not be for everyone but It certainly was for me. I would not pigeon whole this book and call it young-adult, paranormal romance or anything I would just say it is incredible and Try it out what have you got to lose? It is an absolute steal at $.99.

Thank you K.C. King for the amazing journey into the tri-realms! http://sharearead.com/?p=178
