Set in Earth's future this sci-fi adventure/ romance, Jewels, written by Lakisha Spletzer, is an interesting read. Taking readers into a very different future for Earth. One filled with telepathy, military rule (Psi-Ops), advanced technology and caught up in a war between two alien races. The Gatoen Empire, (a race of feline creatures) and a wolf species similar to werewolves from the Lupinious Nation.
Jewel, the MC in this story, is a valuable commodity for Earth's telepathic military. She has never known freedom, being brought up by the authorities and used as a weapon because of her abilities. Her only contacts in her life, have been her "Anchors," who help to ground her abilities and keep her in check and her doctor.
She finds a connection, which evolves into love, in an alien feline man, when her new mission involves being part of the greeting party to welcome the Gatoen Empire to Earth, in Dex, the prince of the visiting aliens.
Jewels is a mix of deception, a struggle for power between different factions and is entwined inside a love story as the telepaths band together to save Earth. This refreshingly, intriguing story is a fun read.

Another great book by this author. She can really describe all of the different nuances it takes to make a story extremely interesting and exceptional. I have loved her werelove series and this book is just as good, if not better. If you want a good read, this is a very good book to have.

Jewels is mental strong but only has one problem, she cannot shield her own mind from other people’s thoughts. She needs to have another person called an anchor to shield her mind. Her and her anchor Jeremy has been pair together for five years. They are both called psionic, they can communicate telepathically along with being able to move things with their minds. They can also teleport too when they want to get somewhere. Jewels meets Dex when she gets posted to do a job at Fort Blackwater.
She brushed against the Felines minds ever so lightly and Dex felt her mind brush against his. He teleported right to the spot where she was. He touched her and broke the connection she had with her anchor and then Dex’s father the King came and touched her too. They both invaded her mind and she was in a lot of pain during this. Jewels almost died from this encounter, but Dex saved her life.
Jewels and Dex are both wanting each other and do not really know why until they are together a lot more. Dex just realized that Jewels is his bond mate for life. Dex finally claims Jewels as his during the choosing ceremony, because Jeremy can no longer be Jewels’ anchor. Dex becomes Jewels new anchor when they go into battle with the Lupines. Jewels blow up all but one Lupine ship and she tells Beta Lastbite that if he tries to harm her husband again she will kill him. After the battle is over Dex goes in front of the Psi-Ops and tells them that he is taking Jewels with him back to his home planet.
This book is fast paced and keeps you interested until the very end. I thought that this book was written amazingly well. Lakisha Spletzer is an amazing author that knows how to use her talent in writing. I really hope that there is a second to this book because I cannot wait to see what is in store for Jewels and Dex. This is one book that I think everybody should read, along with having it on their kindle or bookshelf.

So intergalactic intrigue and invading Aliens is not something I would normally choose to read.
Sci/fi generally doesn't do it for me.
However I quite enjoyed this story.
I connected with the characters, the storyline was interesting, I had a healthy dislike for the relevant troublemakers and I was entertained.
I did find the choice of body image for these aliens a little weird, I mean upright standing humanoid Cats and Wolves....O-Kay?!
But like I said, this really isn't my preferred genre to read.
I'm sure that for the science fiction lovers out there this will be right up their alley.
A really good 3.5 star read all the same :]

I really enjoyed this book. It was such a fast moving read that I didn't put it down until I was to the end. I don't read as many sci-fi books as I would like. I am going to remind myself how much I enjoy Sci-Fi.
