Extended description

The price of peace is high in the post-war British zone of 2042. The female government, led by Verity Wood, blames male aggression for the devastating “Final War”, which has resulted in a shrunken world divided between secular West and clerical East. In the British Zone, women are in control and men are marginalized. Technology and order are the new orthodoxies, surveillance and indoctrination the favoured methods of control. Those who step out of line, mainly men, are ‘re-educated’. The Government attempts to secure its hold on society with the development of the secret Tranquillity Project, an attempt to manipulate gender differences through the feminization of the behaviour of all human beings from birth.

Tyranny is never easy to maintain, even if it is clothed in a velvet glove ……..

A very good read with clearly defined characters in a believable futuristic plot that keeps your interest and manages to surprise your preconceptions more than once; I hope we will have more full length stories from Clare Tanner.
I recommend this book.
