Michal’s eyes shone whenever she laid eyes on David. Her father, Saul, has decided to make him her husband for a price. When Michal helped David escape Saul’s wrath and jealousy, she was then wed to Paltiel, her childhood friend. David was indifferent, neglectful, and unresponsive to his young wife’s needs. Yet, she still loved him despite the fact that Paltiel was a devoted husband. When David sends for Michal after her father’s death, Michal discovers that life and love are not what she expected it to be.

I thoroughly enjoyed this exquisitely written and sad love story based on characters and stories from the Bible.
