This was the first book by Ms. Nordin that I read and I enjoyed it. Carrie really got under my skin a few times but not enough to make me stop reading. Fun read, nice wrap-up to the story, and quick.

I recommend this book for anyone that loves a sweet, love story. I loved the ups and downs of the story. Just when you think things are turning around for the couple, they take another turn of events. I was pleased with this purchase. I gave 3/5 stars. (Great) 4/5= Awesome. 5/5= out of this world Fabulous. I have only given 5/5 to one book. Ever. So 3/5 is a great rating from me.

This story depicts the state of women's choices during this time period in America. However, we know that women here and around the the are still given in marriage to men they have no choice in marrying. a his story delightfully turned out well and love came to light for this young women but not for another. Well written and reflective as it induced emotions that left me anger and happy. Recommend as a good book for young women because charming men still can be the ruin of many young women's life.

Another wonderful work from Ruth Ann Nordin. I love her style and her characters. Her period work is well researched and thought out - believable. Her characters are real people who do things just like I might do.

This story was funny and witty. A fun read.

This was a wonderful story. The characters are well developed and interesting. I agree with Alison...I have become a fan of Ruth Ann Nordin. Her stories and characters are so very inviting.

I am quickly becoming a fan of Ruth Ann Nordin. This was the 2nd book I have read by this author and once again I loved it.

This book is an historical romance and the author was able to transport me to the time and place of the story with no effort at all.

The story is about a young woman forced to marry someone she believes to be boring, so that she doesn't get left destitute after her father is bankrupt. Little does she know that the man has loved her since she was 14 years old. Carrie is incredibly annoying to start off with but that is intentional, she doesn't yet realize what this young man is like, and we as the reader do. I got to the point where I wanted to shake her to get some sense into her. But thankfully she soon comes to realize what a wonderful man her husband is and, well you'll just have to read the story for yourself.

Although the ending is a happy one, it had a twist that I wasn't expecting.
