Ebook short description

A teenage boy discovers more on Halloween than he bargained for. A child realizes his mother is a powerful witch. A hero comes to understand the truth of what lies within him. Seven tales of terror fill the pages of this collection of short stories of the supernatural. Be prepared to have your spine chilled and your stomach churned. Not for the squeamish.

Extended description

Where does the supernatural come from? Is there something existent within this world that causes such things that most would consider unlikely or unnatural to come into being? Is it merely a matter of DNA, something hereditary that can be passed down from one generation to another? Or does someone have to be truly evil in the pit of their soul in order to find themselves changing from their human mortality to something no one in his right mind would mess with without having his finger poised over the detonation button on a nuclear warhead strapped securely to that thing so feared?
In this volume of short stories of the Horror genre author Jacob M. Drake explores the depths of what makes things supernatural and how best to handle anything you come into contact with you might just suspect as being from "the dark realm of existence".

This book is definitely not for the faint of heart,or the weak of nerves. It was a very scary read but enjoyable. This book was written in a way that it was as if I were experiencing the situation with the characters.Very well written by a talented author. Look for more good stuff from him.

This was one of the first books I read on Smashwords. I can't believe how dramatic this is and how real it all seemed. The Jack Skull trilogy especially gave me goosebumps. I could see it all happening right as I read it like I was there and that scared the **** out of me. I'll suggest this to all my friends. Got more like this??

Extremely well written horror stories, better than many by widely-recognized authors. Not for the squeamish, however, with some exceedingly graphic components to some. Unification components between some of the stories add another dimension.

Scary, chilling, horrifying.... one of the scariest books I've read in a long time. He saved the best for last - a "Hostel"-like-creepy-as-hell story that freaked the living **** out of me; READ IT!!

How chilling can a short book of short stories get? Evidently just this chilling. This is one scary book from an even scarier author - if the contents of this book are to be believed and I think they are. Don't read these stories if you plan on sleeping soon after, but do intend on reading them.

Beautiful sense of horror and building scenes that lead the reader through suspense and wondering what the hell is about to happen. Most of these stories - especially the pumpkin trilogies - had me on the edge waiting to see how the story would develop and how it would end. What a great horror flick these three stories would make. When's the next one like this coming out?

Awesome read! Like the way you sculpt most of your stories. I could see what was happening in my mind like I was right there. Especially loved how Jack Skull gave it to the pedophile in the last story. Way to do a chester. Good suspense in most stories, not all, though each had me waiting to see how the plots would evolve and what surprises might be waiting. Overall a real good read. I will recommend it to chums.

This was a short story collection I was able to wrap my mind around. With few exceptions, these stories gripped my imagination and kept me reading until the end of each one. In every aspect of these stories I was able to visualize each move, each scene, each transaction between characters as though I was actually there with them. Thankfully I wasn't actually there in the last story, Jack Skull, when he was showing that pedophile what happens to those who diddle with children. Phew! That scene had me cringing all through it.
A must read for anyone who enjoys a good scare or seeing what happens to those who don't treat others the way they perhaps should.
A great ending for an excellent book of shorts.

Some of these stories are just terrifying. Not in the Stephen King sense of terrifying, but the way you portrayed that little boy in Pumpkin when he was standing there with his fingers in his mouth after his dad was devoured by the demonic thing in the pumpkin!!! I just wanted to cry. No mother could read this and not cry. And Benjy in Witch's Spawn was such a pathetic, poor little soul. How could you paint a picture of any mother being so cruel to her little boy? I know some people are like that. I hope your mother wasn't. All in all these were really good stories. They tugged at my heart in more ways than one. I had chills running up my spine in several stories. Write more of these. I like being scared.
