Readers beware, she's an artfully addicting author. You will have to read all of the stories in the series, once you finish this one.

Nice book for a freebie but the story didn't quite gel for me. The behavior this hero engages in would send most women running and yet our heroine overlooks it/finds it endearing. The books I have read from this author are from the pioneer era, which I enjoy, but the dialogue the characters employ is distinctly from this era as is the behavior of the heroine, which is a bit jarring.

I am enjoying this book. Tom is such a loveable character, no wonder Jessica has a soft spot for him. All the characters are truly well done. I also love the humour throughout. It's a great read so far, up there for four stars from me.

This is the second novella I read by Ruth Ann Nordin, the first being A Husband for Margaret. This story takes place before A Husband for Margaret. I enjoy the way the author describes Tom, I can almost feel his nervousness with women. I thoroughly enjoyed the dancing/ hair tangle scene- I actually laughed out loud. Ruth Ann Nordin does a wonderful job depicting characters with character that they seem so real, especially nervous Tom. Definitely worth the read

I enjoyed the outcome. It showed that what we plan for ourselves sometime goes against what is meant to be.

I thought the start was great. It flowed smoothly. If the start is anything to go by and like all the other books written by this author then this novel will be a great read. A dozen pages and reading.

The characters are likable and the story flows smoothly. I think the writing was weak when it came to the setting. It could have taken place anywhere. It was hard to get a sense for the time as well. Some of the dialogue and interactions between the characters seemed contemporary. Over all, it's okay for a light, fun read but people who really like to get "lost in the past" should look elsewhere.

I read A Husband for Margaret first and this book precedes it.
Tom is so clumsy around woman that you can't keep your heart from going out to the poor guy. Jessica has a heart of gold and even though she's engaged to Peter, she wants to help Tom with his skills so he can find a wife. Instead she finds this clumsy man intriguing.

I just bought the next three books after A Husband for Margaret as I enjoy Ruth's writing and humor in these stories. The characters are very well defined.

Nebraska 1868

Tom Larson, has two left feet when it comes to dancing, clumsy as a bear when he is around women , but put him on a horse to work cattle and the difference is like night and day. He wants to move out of his parents home away from his brothers and sister who are forever taunting him. But first he wants to find a wife.
At the local barn dance Jessica Reynolds takes it upon herself to try and help Tom become more confident and to help him overcome his clumsiness so he may be able to attract a women. This seemed to be a disaster in the making. Jessica who is engaged soon sees the difference between her fiancé and the farmer boy. Now she has to make a choice. One who lets mamma rule or one who loves life, as her friend Margaret and her mother try and steer her in the right direction.
This is a laugh out loud short story that is the first book in Ms. Nordin’s “Nebraska” Series. One cannot help but worry about Tom and some of the predicaments he gets himself into . The secondary characters really add to the plot right along with the main characters. Excellent Sweet Historical Romance. Recommended.
