Mention youth hostels in any gathering and someone will relate an anecdote; backpacking students, holiday romances, detested school trips etc.
But what of the staff who live and work in them? 'Rucksacks and Renegades' follows the staff of one hostel through a summer season in the late 1960s during which culture shock, generation gap, rampant infatuation, and other assorted tripwires resulting in near-miss debacles and hushed-up scandals are met with Scouse savvy and experience of life, ultimately proving more than a match for the overconfidence of youth, the animosity of the committee, and the mayhem caused by both.
