Rated 5.00/5 based on 2 reviews
These horror stories will stay in your mind long after you finish reading them. They're shocking tales involving a predator who gets a nasty surprise from a mysterious woman on the subway, a candymaker who's discovered a secret Aztec recipe for a chocolate drink, and two women who find that their deceased father had a very jealous first wife. This is a great little collection of horror stories.

"Siren Song" grabbed me right away and took me somewhere I wasn't expecting to go.

"The Buzz" was my favourite. A gem of a story invoking unspeakable horrors.

"The Wedding Album" may come across as a little forced due to the large amount of exposition that needs to be expressed in a brief span of dialogue, but this detracts only slightly from another imaginative and memorable story.

Scary and creepy stories allow readers to feel fear and excitement vicariously, the same way viewers experience a scary movie or horror film. These horror stories are all very different from one another, but the one thing they have in common is a surprise ending that will either leave you, the reader, shocked or stunned. Plus, as the author says, the stories will linger with you and I found this to be absolutely true. The story about the mysterious girl on the subway still has me kind of freaked out, but in an intrigued way where I replay the story in my mind like a short film. Anyone who is a fan of horror films or creepy stories (including ghosts, monsters, demons, etc.) will enjoy this short story collection. It's so much easier to read scary short stories (than an entire novel) because you can finish one creepy story at a time when you have the time. I hadn't heard of the author or read any of his stories before so I was pretty amped to find this book for only $1.99. This is why I like that I found Smashwords because you can discover amazing authors here and not pay excruciating prices for ebooks. 5 stars all the way!
