I'd never had to convert Word files to ePub before and wasn't exactly sure where to go.

This was suggested by a blogger, and she was right: it's short, to the point, and FREE! :-)

Don't expect this to cover everything Sigil can do; I didn't go in thinking that, and had only 1 slight disappointment: nothing about inserting the cover image. However, when I did a search in the Sigil manual, how to do was right there, and it turned out to be easy as pie (altho I will say the Sigil develops should at least tell you to look under the Tools menu for it - would have saved me some time looking for it).

In summary, an easy to understand, basic primer to get your Word doc set up as an ePub.

A basic, straight-to-the-point book that's actually useful. It covers just enough of Sigil to get the job done and done well.
