The Ghost of Caroline Wald; a Ghost Story and Horror Novel
When Frankie Johns, newly minted 18-year-old, discovers the ghost of a young girl in the old house up the street, he is set on the path to danger, conflict, and ghostly intrigue.
The ghost convinces him to dig up her grave to retrieve a diary buried with her in 1757, beginning a journey of courage and self-discovery.
Poignant, funny, literary and scary.
A wonderful read. More
More than just a ghost story or horror novel, this is a work of literature. If you enjoy good fiction and a good read you will love this book. Here are a few snippets:
Yale regretted to inform him that his application had been declined, and wished him luck in the future. "Don't start bawling, whatever you do," he said to himself silently.
"What did they say?" his dad asked.
"I won't have to worry about finding housing in New Haven."
"This is a wood," Dan said, holding up a club. "It is also called a driver, because you use it to tee off and to drive the ball long distances."
"Why is it called a wood?" Frankie asked, although he knew that much. He just wanted to jerk Dan's chain.
"Because it's made of wood. What's the matter with you?"
"Looks like plastic to me."
"No, trust me, it's wood."
"What is this one called?"
"That's an iron."
"Looks like steel." It was all Frankie could do not to laugh.
Elizabeth had never heard anything like it. It started out quiet and sweet, and then burst into a frenzy of sound. Frankie pounded up and down the keyboard like a wild man, making powerful, energetic music. Then the music became slow, and quiet, and sweet, even bittersweet. After a particularly radical, loud, and violent section, there was silence. Elizabeth was breathless. After a slight pause, when she could collect her thoughts, she started to clap energetically. Roland, who had been listening from the dining room, sat with his face in his hands, weeping.
And of course, It's Scary
He thought maybe he was dying. Maybe poison gas had leaked into the room, or maybe he had already died. Maybe he was asleep dreaming.
And then he saw the girl sitting on the bed looking at him, appearing like any solid human girl.
"You have been looking for me." she said.
If you enjoy good fiction and a bit of a scare, then The Ghost of Caroline Wald is for you!
