This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys historical novels. O'Neil DeNoux has an uncanny abiliity to make his fictional characters come to life as they interact with those historic figures such as General Andrew Jackson, Louisiana's very own pirate Jean Lafitte and Governor Wm. C. C. Claiborne! He entwines the lives and romances of the characters he brings to us and the details of the battle so well that you can easily put yourself in that place in time. As a southeast Louisiana native I loved this book! I'm anxiously awaiting his next historical novel!
