"Normally, I would give a good review for a book that entertains me. Even though it was a story of someone being beaten, I was enjoying it. I was actually finding it humorous ... at least the hotel clerk. I just had to chuckle at what I was reading because it seemed too fake and even a little absurd.
Without giving the story away, that feeling of glee from the absurdity of what was happening changed instantly. I suddenly felt guilty for finding joy in what I was reading. It was a great twist that I didn't see coming. Throughout the story, I was thinking 3 or 4 stars because I was enjoying it, but I'm going to give it 5 because I experienced a jaw drop, and that do.. Normally, I would give a good review for a book that entertains me. Even though it was a story of someone being beaten, I was enjoying it. I was actually finding it humorous ... at least the hotel clerk. I just had to chuckle at what I was reading because it seemed too fake and even a little absurd.
