She traveled, it was all she knew how to do. She existed in a state of flux and every day felt like the one before, until she started playing an online computer game. Tales of Lyria was a massive, online, role-playing game. It had everything her life lacked, magic, companionship, challenges, possibilities and rules. Playing made her life less empty. Three years after she started, she stopped playing the game and started living it.

After blacking out due to a power surge, she woke to find herself laying on soft grass, under sun dappled trees in her underwear. In an attempt to escape an obsessive lover, Adeline flees human and dwarven lands for the snow covered mountains of the frost elves. In the quiet village of Lochbahile, she finds a mage to train her, a home and friendship. Her peace is interrupted by the machinations of a distant Kahn warlord and his servants. The warlord’s dark hunger entangles her life as well as the lives of her friends with his thirst for death and power. In a desperate attempt to search for her missing companions she leaves her home and is taken by the very forces that hunt them. Is she strong enough to defeat her enemies and live to return home, or will she succumb to the dark enchantment that has captured her?
