I really enjoyed this anthology. It's a wonderful collection that breathes atmosphere, touches the heart without being sentimental, and leaves behind a deep desire for the mysterious. There's a sensitivity to Lon Prater's writing that reminds me of Ray Bradbury's style. It's emotional and full of vibrant, soft tones in plot and characterization. I enjoyed how well the stories flowed into one another, not unlike an arrangement of songs one finds in an album of a favorite band.
There's a nod to H.P. Lovecraft with the story "Head Music" that I liked. "A Road Like This, at Night" was particularly touching, especially since I have kids of my own. To lose a child is a nightmare, but this story seeks some comfort out of such a loss.
I am confident that Lon Prater will be turning out novels sometime in the near future, and I for one, look forward to reading them.
