Short description

How a Canadian travel blogger recklessly abandoned her cushy life in Canada and moved to Jamaica, in ways that she would never recommend to anyone. A humorous journal that details the build up to a move that was destined to happen, and accounts of the aftermath of her decision.

Extended description

Author Kristi Keller has been regularly traveling to Jamaica - a place of extreme contrast from her permanent residence - for almost a decade. She has also been blogging about her experiences, mishaps and amazing discoveries on the island for years.

While always doing her best to promote travel in a more local and adventurous way, the author fails to take her own advice most of the time. When she finally tries to make her stay in Jamaica more permanent, the results are real life drawbacks that create less than ideal situations for staying afloat, no matter where one lives.

In a comical manner, Keller welcomes you into her world of transition and transformation as she blunders through life in ways she would undoubtedly do over again with no regrets.

Wow is all I can say! What a great read. I am a frequent traveler to Jamaica and I have to admit I was stuck in the rut of AI's and resort living. I've ventured out a little but I'm not nearly as engrossed in the culture as Kristi. After reading this book Kristi has me yearning to learn more about the REAL Jamaica and all it has to offer. She has offered an honest real in depth look at a culture that I so love and want to be apart of. I recommend this book to ANYONE that is thinking of visiting or going for an extendication (extended vacation) as I call it. Keep up the good work Kristi.

Amazing!!! I'm a newbie to Jamaica (well the country not the culture) but have experienced home as the foreigner. I can relate to Kristi's experiences on so many levels and the few things I didn't relate to I will happily learn from. After searching for months for anything informative about the real Jamaica I stumbled across Kristi's blog. I was almost ready to give up, convinced I was never going to find the answers I craved and concluded I was crazy. I'm now learning that actually yes I may be crazy but that's ok....thank you! :) Now on to the next read....

Excellent, easy read, and gives extremely good insight about life and living in a tropical foreign country. Kristi's enthusiasm for the island cannot be denied and I confess is sometimes contagious. Thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to newbies (like myself) or people that can relate. Good on Kristi for sharing her passion.

This book couldn't have come at a better time. I was re-introduced to Jamaica My Way, Kristi A. Keller's blog, as I started to prepare for my move to Jamaica. The release of her book came just a week before my actual departure and couldn't have been more apropos. I sincerely appreciate Kristi's candor and honesty of her love/hate relationship with the island as well as her successes and lessons from her move. After reading her book, I feel even more equipped to handle these next few months and make the most of my time in Jamaica while doing it all my way!

I have been following Kristi Keller’s 'Jamaica My Way' blog for about a year and have been anxiously awaiting her book about her adventures living in Jamaica. I can honestly say she does not disappoint – this is an interesting read for anyone who travels and especially loves the Island of Jamaica. I literally could not put it down. The journey of this amazing female and single mother is powerful, full of emotion and really tugs at your heart strings in both happiness and sadness. Now, I am anxiously waiting her follow-up. Well done Kristi!
