RG Porter is an author of dark fantasy as well as horror and murder mysteries, all with a twist of the supernatural tossed in. For as far back as she can remember, she has always been proned to coming up with wild adventures. Her dreams and nightmares just fueled her already creative juices.
Wandering around from state to state, RG spent many years in different states before finally settling down. She now calls a small town outside Austin Texas home, where she spends time with her family, cat and dreams of the move to the UK. Until that time comes, she indulges in the local environment of great steaks, hot weather and keeps her eyes out for ghosts.
Can't live in Texas and not expect to find something strange going on. As they say, Keep Austin Wierd.
The first four novels (SHADOW OF THE WOLF, KISS OF THE WOLF, CRY OF THE RAVEN and CALL OF THE RAVEN) of her adventurous fantasy series the DARKNESS UNLEASHED SERIES are available now on Amazon. She also has many other series in varying degrees in the works as well as stand alone books in the horror genre.

I honestly didn’t know exactly how to feel about this book right after I finished it. It left me feeling all sorts of different ways, confused and creeped-out being at the top of the list. The author had an excellent idea for this book. She took a bunch of teenagers who all have some sort of problems, whether it be greed, gluttony, pride, lust … even envy. You get it, right? The Seven Deadly Sins. She then put them in a scenario where each one is given a chance to either make the right decisions or the wrong decisions; the wrong choices leading to death. The person who oversees the decisions is an old man who owns a “hotel”, which is actually a sort of purgatory.
This is a book that will keep you turning the pages! I had to see what would happen to each person; would they make the right decision and be spared, or make the wrong one? I do have to admit that I was confused by the descriptions in the book a few times and also, the author does tend to repeat the same words, or variations of certain words, over and over. However, I did enjoy this book. :)
I won’t say that I got attached to any of the characters, but it isn’t that kind of book, in my opinion. Instead, I found myself hoping that some would stay on the right path and survive, while wishing I could push others off the path completely and be done with them! The characters did pull different emotions from me and that is very important when reading a book.
I do recommend this book to anyone who likes Stephen King. Porter’s writing style in this read is very similar to King’s and that was something I was not expecting! If you like books that bring out several emotions at once, creep you out so badly that you have to reach for the nearest light and check under the bed, and leave you feeling like you’ve run a marathon at the end, then this book is for you!
