This is a quick story about a kid who's different, gets picked on for it, and finds the strength to stand up and protect others. In the process, she discovers something amazing, and her life will never be the same again.
It's a classic superhero origin story that is avoids being cliche'. The characters are realistic, the situations work, and the writing is excellent.

Don't let "transgendered" scare you. The character is the person next door, and Scott brings that out quite clearly.
