Description

This is a story of the Civil War seen through the eyes of a young man whose primary interests are war and women. He is not a superhero, he gets scared when people try to kill him. He is not an educated man, not officer material, but he is well read and smart. The war he fights is as real as I can make it. People in this book are people, not cardboard cutouts.

This book can be enjoyed equally by men and women. I am female and passed this book on to my adult sons, after my husband and I read it. All three of the guys found it easy to read and enjoyed the descriptive language of the war, weapons, injuries and the lack of supplies which left the soldiers in dire straits many times.

This review was long delayed due to the ill health of a friend who we spent over a year taking care of. Trust me, it is a book well worth waiting for. I strongly suggest that teens needing to write about the Civil War, read this book, with their parents consent of course.

I found this book to be fascinating, exciting and educational. From the first few pages you get reeled in. The author uses humor, romance and intrigue to keep you wanting to read more and more. His characters are described in vivid detail and make you want to learn more about them. Bounty Man is written in language that you can imagine being used during the Civil War. It's colorful and sometimes amusing. There were words and phrases that I hadn't heard of before but they were usually explained or you have a pretty good idea of what they meant. It really made me much more interested in learning more about that period of American History and I have read other books about it since this but none have been as intriguing as Bounty Man. I was so pleased to find out from the author that there are more Bounty Man adventures in the works. I am eagerly awaiting the next book to be published and continue to read the fascinating story of Captain Morgan.
