Gene is an Ex-fighter-pilot and has given up aviation all together. He switched to scriptwriting for the new media, called Television, which is in dire need for fresh material, especially crime-shows. But there is only little money to be made in New York, writing cop-stories. One day Gene is fed up and decides to go West, to Hollywood.

He lands in the middle of the weird studio-life and has a hard time to find his place in the system. One night he has a surprising visitor. The mysterious woman out on nowhere is dressed in futuristic pajamas and has strangely pointed ears. She desperately tries to convince him of writing a new TV-show, some kind of pioneer story in space, a trek between the stars…
