I was reading it and at first I thought, not bad, the woman telling the story is funny, even a little nasty. At some point I realized something was different. I was so involved with what was happening, like this woman is alive like I know her. The end was really moving. Terrific book.

Distinctive prose winds several years, needlework, and cocoa almonds within an unusual family. Eclectic characters add to the narrative for an engaging story.
