Writers tend to shy away from "formulas" for writing, but every genre has specific criteria to be followed to meet reader expectations. Vickie Britton does an excellent job of laying out a plan to write a mystery novel that will meet reader expectations while leaving plenty of room for the author's creativity to make the story unique. I highly recommend this short guide for anyone writing their first mystery novel. Even authors who have written a mystery before are likely to find useful information here.
