Born in California, Chaiya Zahara grew up as the eldest of four children in a single parent home. She now lives in Texas. Affectionately known as, Chaiya, she is a wife, mother of four and grandmother.
Chaiya's educational endeavors include, Sacramento City College, Houston Community College, College of Biblical Studies and the University of Houston.
A substantial portion of her professional career, spanning over 18 years, was spent in the non-profit sector. As a result of this, working for a “cause” developed her heart for service. This later formed the backdrop for the creation of Chaiya Shiyr: Living Songs Center.
Founded in 2007, Chaiya Shiyr: Living Songs Center addresses the issues that impact women who have been wounded by domestic or sexual violence. Chaiya hopes to encourage, educate and empower women to heighten self-awareness, make positive life changes and to develop their spirituality.
Chaiya is an inspirational speaker, poet, author, teacher, songstress and dancer. She sings testimonies of tragedy and triumph, poverty and prosperity and the pure grace and mercy of the living God.
Created as a witness of her unique and bold view of life, her transparent writings convey compelling spiritual insights, messages of hope and promises that are meant to shared.
