Short description

Phoney Collateral - a screenplay - is the poignant and darkly funny tale of a close-knit rural community in conflict with a local small-time crime figure. Drawn together to combat the common threat, the locals are forced to ridiculous extremes to restore their way of life. This is a movie that I could never get made because, in hard times, investors don't like to take chances.

Extended description

John Simone, son of Italian immigrants, wants to disprove his reputation as a local scoundrel by successfully moving his parent’s house to an upscale section of their sleepy country town. His plan is to have his brother and sister chip in to pay for the work and have it done before his parents return from a vacation on the Italian Riviera. His loving but skeptical sister Angela is dead set against it. His older brother Michael, an ex-cop who sustained a head injury in a boxing tournament, is now a babbling idiot and has no useful opinion in the matter. The whole thing was destined for failure from the start.
