Short description

Girls RULE! Literally, in the Queendom of Everafter. Yet life and love are not so simple, even for those who wear the crown.

Extended description

In the queendom of Everafter the ladies rule the roost and in this story there are plenty of women to go around. Three generations of the royal family, those who serve the royal family, those who would like to overthrow the royal family and Carlotta...but she's a story all of her own.

The Talk follows these ladies through the ups and downs of life and love; takes a look inside their passions and fears and works in a good old fashion beheading.

Not every story is meant to be pretty!

I've read this marvelous tale several times and the thought I'm always left with is "BRILLIANT!!" THE TALK is like nothing I've seen before, packed with humor and serious content in equal measure (although the serious part is cleverly disguised). I don't usually consider discussing the narrative voice in literature, but it deserves consideration here. There is a truly unique rhythm to this story, one that's subtle brilliance reveals itself repeatedly throughout. The narration quickly develops into a "voice" that seems to stand outside of ones mind, as though one is being spoken to by a talented storyteller who is also a delightful friend. I don't wish to give anything away. The story is a pleasure to read and more so if you have been allowed to discover it on your own. I'll just close with the suggestion that you immediately make time in your day to get started! An excellent read, and a pleasure to come back to, over and over. Once you've finished, you'll feel as though you've made a new and wonderful friend.
