Among the Living (PsyCop #1)

Rated 4.80/5 based on 8 reviews
Victor Bayne, the psychic half a PsyCop team, is a gay medium who’s more concerned with flying under the radar than in making waves. He hooks up with Jacob Marks, a non-psychic (or “Stiff”) from an adjacent precinct and it seems like his dubious luck has improved, when a serial killer with a gruesome M.O. surfaces--and no one agrees what he looks like.

A short, easily digestible mystery that is tight from start all the way to the finish. JCP's prose is economical and doesn't get in the way of the story. There's a lot of unexplored territory when it comes to the mechanics of JCP's world, but that just makes me want to read more.

Price-point seems high, but I acknowledge I speak only from comparing my previous length/price purchases from less established Indie authors.

Highly recommended.
