About Carole McEntee-Taylor

I love writing and love history so I suppose it’s not so surprising that I write historical books! I enjoy writing both military history and historical fiction and the idea is to give the author royalties of any military history titles to military charities whilst proceeds from the fiction will go to me to help fund the research into both - at least that's the theory!

My military history books are all published by Pen & Sword and the first one is due in August 2013. Herbert Columbine VC is the story of an Essex VC winner from World War 1 and all author proceeds go to the Columbine Statue Fund.

My next book will be out in November 2013. ‘A Battle Too Far - The true story of Rifleman Henry Taylor (no relation!) 6923581, late 7th Battalion The Rifle (1stBattalion London Rifle Brigade). This will be also published by Pen & Sword.

Henry's war began in October 1942 as the 2nd Battle of El Alamein commenced and continued almost non-stop for the next three years. Through Tunisia, Italy and Austria the 8th Army fought on, their campaigns often forgotten as the world concentrated on northern Europe and the D Day invasion. Inch by inch they fought their way north through Italy against determined, well dug-in defenders, in conditions often resembling the trenches of WW1.Their reward? To be called 'D Day Dodgers' despite enduring some of the heaviest fighting of the war. This book is a tribute to Henry and all those other 'D-Day Dodgers' whose hard fought campaigns and battles are rarely remembered or spoken about.

I have just finished writing a book on the history of the Military Corrective Training Centre. This is called ‘Military Detention Colchester from 1947 – Voices from the Glasshouse’ and will be published by Pen & Sword in 2014.

I am currently writing a book about ‘Bellewaarde June 1915’ and this is due to be published by Pen & Sword some time in 2014.

My historical fiction books are a stand-alone novel – ‘A Second in Time’ and The Cat & The Nightingale Saga which is based on the story of my in laws during WW2, is in several volumes and is written in the form of a docu-drama.

The full story of my father-in-law will also be published next year by Pen & Sword and will be called ‘Surviving the Nazi Onslaught – From the Defence of Calais to The Death March For Freedom.

I live in on the Essex coast with my husband and work at the Military Corrective Training Centre (MCTC)in Colchester. I have quite wide ranging interests and together with my husband David I have also written two spiritual books, The Re-Enlightenment and Holiday from Hell.
