Description

This chapter was dropped by the publisher because he thought it cut against the CATCHER IN THE RYE tone of PUNAHOU BLUES. I disagree. By juxtaposing haole family life in the Kahala suburbs with an extended Hawaiian family living in Waimanalo, it helps reveal Mr. Gill's warden-like rule over a loveless family as well as the struggle his sons face as they move into their teenage years.
