Chilling read with a build-up that's very Hitchcockian—think "The Birds" but with with rats. Two super-intelligent, pink-eyed, virus-infected rats have escaped from a science lab experiment. Hungry and conniving, they scurry to the local town, scratching and biting other rodents, who in turn bite and scratch other animals including humans. One tiny scratch, one bite is all it takes. Like a raging wind fanning flames, the path of destruction grows. The poor town folk, especially the carnies who work the local carnival, are in for a rough ride, and the reader is in for some sleepless nights.
