An excellent little story of a group of "Masters" who want to take over and who are kept from doing so by the little people they are trying to enslave. An interesting cast of characters who work together to thwart the take over of the world. A very interesting and good read.

A sci-fi novella about an alien species and their pending invasion of the earth.
I was able to understand the characters and felt they were reflected well in the story. Even though this is a very short read, it is an interesting and enjoyable read. I would read more of this author's book. This book is timeless (I think it was written in the 1970's) .

Bait for the tiger is a sci-fy story about a secret alien hunting team that has missing agents. One of the missing agents is Phil, who is married to Val and calling her when he is not supposed to. The other agents decide to send in Val to find her missing husband. The story line was interesting but some of the things that were going on were a little strange. I enjoyed reading the novelette.

I didn't grow up in the era of alien invasion in sci-fi (which is where this book is from), so I wasn't sure what to expect. In the past I haven't particularly cared for this kind of sci-fi, but decided to give it a try. I liked it. The style was different from what I've seen, was accessible and made the story seem plausible. Well, except for the "100% telepath" who apparently has no problem dealing with the thoughts of everyone around him 24/7...I especially enjoyed the initial forays into the setting.

I was given a copy of this book, from Librarything.com, in exchange for my honest opinion.
The bait is Valentine, an exotic dancer who uses a mechanical snake in her act. She is distraught that the mysterious man she recently met and married, is missing. Phil Norton, her husband, is one of a limited number of people that works for and knows about a secret departmet in the government. This department consists of a telapath, a records man, and a bodyguard. They are tasked with uncovering the aliens that live among us.
They decide to send Valentine undercover into a dangerous alien colony, Ore Valley. She has to get acquainted with the lead alien, Steve, the "Tiger". She must get him to reveal information to her. Then the telepath will pick up on this information from her to determine how to handle this colony. She must also try to locate Phil. Can Valentine handle her mission to save her husband and possibly the world?
I liked this book. It was shorter and thus more rushed at the end than I would have liked. Why build a great lead up story and end it so abruptely? Yet, I would still reccomend this book for a quick nice sci-fi read.

This is a science fiction short story/novelette. I don't usually read sci-fi but I found this story enjoyable. It is basically about an agent, Mr. Norton, who hunts aliens and he ends up missing. The other agents decide to send Mr. Norton's wife Valentine in as a decoy to help them infiltrate the alien camp and hopefully locate her husband.
The story starts off kind of slow but I was able to get into it more about halfway through. The author did a great job at describing the characters and I could picture them as I was reading.
I received this ebook free through LibraryThing member giveaways in exchange for an honest review.

Elizabeth Chater‘s science fiction works are being made available to a whole new generation of readers, thanks to her family. While teaching at San Diego State University in the 1960′s, Chater and her student, Greg Bear, had created the first Science Fiction Creative Writing class at the university level in California, which then paved the way for the world famous comic con being held in San Diego. In the novelette Bait For The Tiger strange things happen in Ore Valley. It’s a funny story about a possible invasion of aliens and secret settlements on planet Earth. In the Pentagon research is being done on mind-reading and alien attacks. In Ore Valley green lights are spotted. While on a top secret mission investigating these, FBI agent Phil Norton goes missing. Chester, the mind-reader and clairvoyant, Abbot, recording all evidence and Jones, the security officers, work together on this case. The Pentagon brings in the woman Phil married in secret, the exotic dancer Valentine Norton. She’s willing to do anything to help get Phil Norton back, even go under cover in a town now overrun by an alien race known as the Masters. This dancer uses a robot snake as an accessoire (therefore the cover picture and book title). How this comes to an end, I’ll not tell you
It takes some time to get the storyline straight. Lots of facts need to be explained first. After reaching that point the book reads easily. Though the dancer’s infiltration into the aliens’ settlement sounds incredible, it’s not too distracting. The end is somewhat an anticlimax. Compared to the slow timelapse in the book’s beginning, it ends too fast. My conclusion: entertaining book, but not too exciting.

Bait for the tiger is a sci-fy story about a secret alien hunting team. Two of their agents have gone missing. One of them named Phil married a dancer in secret. He was not supposed to call anyone but he was doing so anyway so Val knew when she did not here from him that he was captured.
They decided to send in Val a dancer into the town and faked her history to that of a murder. They were able to read her mind to find out about the aliens.
It was entertaining. Did not like the some of the characters. Its not believeable but it not supposed to. I would not mind reading more of her work. I was given this book in exchange of honest review from librarything member.
