Similar to The Norecomb Women though not a sequel - Jonn Lonry, command captain general of the Lorance guard, would far rather have remained in the commonwealth's northern forests fighting brigands and wandering tribesmen making a nuisance of themselves. The commonwealth's social and political establishment, however, has decided to reign in a commonwealth guard viewed as insubordinate by dismissing Lonry as its commander. Lonry, as usual, debates matters of social and political consequence for as long as a moment or two prior to crossing his Rubicon.
