This is the third novel in the Amber Fox series and I think that this is the best one so far. I have enjoyed reading the others, The Fashion Police (Amber Fox Mystery No 1) and Be Careful What You Wish For (Amber Fox Mystery No 2) but feel that each book has improved as the series progressed until this one, which is her best yet. We have come to know and care about the central characters, I especially like the chemistry between Amber and Brad; and there is plenty of comedy provided by Tia and Amber's dad. I thought that this is her best in the series so far because the story is more gripping and focussed than the earlier stories with an exciting plot. It was hard to put this book down and I read it in one day!

The third book in the series certainly packs a punch. Amber Fox who has become one of my favorite sleuths is back with her wit and her appetite. Definitely dealing with a darker subject in this one but overall very enjoyable and entertaining. Amber even gets her much anticipated happy ending.

I was a bit concerned when I saw a description of this book classifying it as chic lit. I am glad I did not listen. The main character, Amber Fox, is a female investigator for an insurance group. She is asked to find the daughter of a voodoo priestess (who Amber has helped before). In the search she uncovers a trail of deceit and murder. Although it does have a bit of romance and some pretty decent humor, it is first and foremost a mystery and a pretty good one at that. It is well written with excellent characters (especially a strong female lead). Although it is not as hard core a mystery as I usually read, I will likely read another Amber Fox mystery when I need something a bit different.

It's always refreshing and satisfying to read novels which present Voodoo (Vodou) accurately and show respect for it. 5-stars for that. I liked the humor and found myself chuckling aloud ("Who said that, Oprah?" "Buddha!"). This is the first time I'm reading an Amber Fox novel and I found her likeable. My only complaint is for the incredible number of references to chocolate and junk food. I found it distracted me from the mystery that needed to be solved; however, I'm willing to concede that the author may have a plot-driven reason for these numerous references and we'll find out about it in the next installment.

Voodoo Deadly (Amber Fox Mystery #3) by Sibel Hodge

Amber Fox is back! She still works for her ex-fiance turn boss, Fiance as a insurance investgator. Amber used to be a cop till she shot her boss in the but.
Amber is smart, funny and afraid if she does set a wedding date something will make Brad disappear again.
Brad used to be in SAS and last time they were going to be wed he was sent on a secret mission for 3 months and he could not tell anyone or get word out. He is owner of insurence company. He has killed before when Amber was about to be killed. He had the bodies disappear. Brad eats no junk food, does not like clutter or cats. But he likes Amber's cat and nick nacks.
Hacker used to be in SAS under Brad's command. He use voodoe only for good. He can hack computers.
Tia is sec. for Brad met Amber when she was searching for Tia's father. Tia is a psychic. Not very good at it.
This case is to find a missing Chantal daughter of a voodoo priestesses and a big land developer. Her best friend Lisa disappeared six months ago and was trying to find her. Lisa is a reporter but no one knows what story she was working on.
Its a very entertaining story. Hope that this is not the last time I get to read about Amber Fox. I have liked all three stories about her cases.
Sibel Hodges books that I have read all have some humor in them and will read more of her books in the future. I was given this book to read in exchange of honest review.

I loved this book! All the Amber Fox mysteries have been brilliant but this one is the best so far; I couldn't put it down. The character dynamics are fabulous, the mystery is brilliant, the story line is excellent, all wrapped up in one ball of humour. If you like the Janet Evanovich series you will love this as Amber Fox is an intelligent Stephanie Plum. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
