Mike Bennet is an amazing story teller. This prelude to the U&I podcast series is a must read. More than your typical vampire stereotype, Mr. Bennet gives you unlikely emotion and raw horror! And then you keep coming back for more.

A great sample of Mr Bennett's work. If you like it keep looking him up.
I enjoy his podcast immensely. The man is all about producing quality work and getting it out to his audience in whatever way he can. Definitively worthy of support so he can keep doing what he does so well.

Great intro into the Underwood and Finch story (look it up, it is worth your time). Another great effort by Mike Bennet, with lots of twists and wry humor on classic themes. Don't get turned off by the vampires - there is no glitter here. Just great story telling and memorable situations.

This piece is just the taster for the Underwood and Flinch series. I was hooked from the moment I found Mike Bennett's 'One Among The Sleepless' . I can't recommend this highly enough, everything Mike produces is 5 star.

With all the vampire films, TV series and books around at the moment, it's hard to find something entertaining and different. Well, search no longer! This short story (and the novel it preceeds) are brilliant - it mixes the old tradtions of the vampire myth with modern themes.

I am completely hooked on Underwood and Flinch, and this short story is only a snippet of the wonderful-ness of the story as is podcast-ed up to today. I love it.

This story stands alone.. but also precedes one of the greatest podcasts ever written and performed by any author. Props to you, Mike, for giving us a vampire that doesn't sparkle.

Standout work from an engaging and prolific author who is thoroughly deserving of the fan base he's worked for years to build.
I have no doubt you'll be bitten by Night Crossing, and the charisma of the main protagonists will lead you nicely into the rather substantial Underwood and Flinch...

Night Crossing is a cracking good read both as a standalone short story and as an introduction to the lead characters in Underwood and Flinch.
Mike Bennett is an author to keep an eye on. I don't know why he hasn't been snapped up by a major publishing house. Bennett is also a very good reader: check out his stories at podiobooks.com

Most excellent preview to vampire novel Underwood & Flinch. Part of the Hall of Mirrors short story podcast. Not one of those sparkly vampire stories by any means. Also, check out podcasts One Among The Sleepless and Sometimes by Mike. Literate horror not for the faint hearted.

It is quite difficult to write about a short story written by Mike Bennett, as you have to be one among the thousands of those writers and reviewers who have done the job earlier. But I am so fascinated by the charm and attraction I had felt while reading ‘Night Crossing’ that I could not do without putting my efforts to show how I felt while reading this master piece. I love relationship of the two unusual characters, Lord Underwood and Flinch, as they travel on the cargo ship ‘Glenmalloch’ in the latter part of the 1950’s. The story itself is very compelling to read and my only real criticism of the work is the simple fact it was not long enough
